I See a Lot of Blue!

I see a lot of blue

When standing upon a high cliff, overlooking the ocean, I see a lot of blue.

However, the shades of blue are varied throughout my view. A darker blue where the water is deep, a brighter blue where the sunshine strikes the water.

Yet more of a turquoise where the water is shallow and calm with even the possibility of a bit of green.

An azure, together with white, where the waves are crashing and foaming.

Then, of course there are darker spots here and there, where a school of fish passes through my field of vision, or a honu pops his head up above the water, with a spray of splash with of his flipper!

My mind cannot help but think of a quilt! Piecing together so many variations of blue with little pops of other colors amongst the shimmers. This is how a quilt begins!

Long before sitting down at a sewing machine. Observing the colors and shapes around us inspire us to imitate God’s handiwork, in cotton and thread! Regardless of how abstractly we render these inspirations, they are works of beauty.

Wherever you live, there are shapes, colors and so many textures full of beauty all around! Look at your surroundings with the eyes – seeing the possibilities to translate into quilts!

Come visit us on the island of Kauai for an entirely different stimulation of your quilting senses!
